Cold Lake City Council held a special meeting on April 29 to urgently approve a letter of support for the Cold Lake John Howard Society, ensuring eligibility for provincial funding under Alberta’s Homeless Supports & Housing Stability Program – Wildfire Grant. The funding supports operations at the city’s only homeless shelter through October 2025. The last-minute move came after the province gave less than 24 hours to submit required documents.
