The updated concept, presented May 20, features granite pavers, shaded trees, benches, LED lighting, and a circular walkway around the cenotaph—blending remembrance with a space for public gatherings. Most clients are from the local region, not outside it. Staff provide meals, help with ID and appointments, and coordinate basic medical care. Without the shelter, risks of fire, crime, and death from exposure would rise sharply. City council acknowledged the shelter's vital role and community support.
