Cold Lake Council Backs Indigenous-Led Recovery Program Grant

Cold Lake City Council has endorsed a $100,000 funding request by the Cold Lake Native Friendship Centre to expand a culturally relevant recovery program blending Indigenous healing and western methods. The funding would formalize programming, train staff, and strengthen cultural components like land-based healing and elder guidance. The City provided a letter of support for the grant, which will be submitted to Alberta Mental Health and Addiction.

Cold Lake Council Approves Urgent Support for Homeless Shelter Funding

Cold Lake City Council held a special meeting on April 29 to urgently approve a letter of support for the John Howard Society’s homeless shelter. The letter, required for a provincial wildfire grant, ensures continued funding for the city’s only shelter through October 2025.
