Man Arrested After Stolen Backhoe Smashes RCMP Vehicles in Bonnyville

A man is in custody after stealing a trackhoe and using it to damage five RCMP vehicles in Bonnyville on Saturday evening. Around 6:55 p.m., he dumped boulders in front of the prisoner bay at the RCMP lot before fleeing on foot. Police Dog Services and drone support were used to track him down, and he was arrested in a nearby treeline. A bail hearing is pending.

Cold Lake Offers Relief for Residents Hit with High Water Bills

Cold Lake residents facing unusually high water bills due to leaks may now apply for a one-time 50% credit through the City's new Water Billing Adjustment Program. The policy applies to residential accounts where water use exceeds three times the annual average due to accidental consumption. Mayor Craig Copeland says the program is meant to support residents dealing with unexpected water-related issues. Staff monitor for excessive usage and try to alert residents when possible.
